Blatant disregard for science and unethical fear mongering is no longer enough for the fanatics at Greenpeace. Fifteen members of the supposedly ‘non-violent’ antinuclear circus trespassed on the owner controlled grounds surrounding the Cofrentes Nuclear Power Plant in Valencia, Spain where they attacked and injured 3 Security Officers. The three men were assaulted as the angry mob of activists attempted to paint the word “peligro” or danger on the cooling tower.
Just in case you thought that sabotage and ramming ships constitutes “peaceful protest,” there can no longer be any doubt about the violent nature of the Greenpeace organization and what it’s willing to do.
Greenpeace claims this reckless PR stunt demonstrates that nuclear power plant security is weak. The truth is, the cooling tower is outside of the secure areas of the plant and the fanatics never got anywhere near the reactor or the redundant security barriers. While a cooling tower is important to generating electricity, it has nothing to do with safety thus Greenpeace has proven little other than the fact that they’re willing to use violence to achieve their goals and that they still have no clue what they’re talking about.
Media coverage of this stunt has been disgraceful as usual. The injured officers were briefly mentioned in short quips toward the end of a few stories, while every piece of coverage I read included prepared soundbites from the fanatics that premeditated the attack.
Truth be told, all 15 of the attackers are lucky to be alive as the guards showed considerable restraint in holding their fire. This could very easily have been much worse than that. But then again, the leadership at Greenpeace has demonstrated time and again that they are willing to risk the lives of the kids who volunteer for them as they continue to have them chain themselves to train tracks even after one of them was accidentally run over and killed by a train.
I certainly hope that any organization, individual, and company that is making donations to Greenpeace thinks long and hard about whether or not they want their name associated with financing violence.

It seems like committing violent acts at a secure site should be enough to revoke their non-profit status. It wouldn’t completely shut them down, but it would greatly reduce the amount of corporate funding they are eligible for…
Let’s see if we can’t do something about that tax-exempt status of thiers.
Stratch that. I did a little more reserach, and it looks like if their non-profit status was revoked they would lose all rights to fundraise. They would have to completely restructure or call it quits.
Considering that the first tentant in their statement of purpose if “peaceful action” it is clear that they have departed from their stated mission. I know that doesn’t seem like a big deal, but it is a really critical in the realm of non-profits. Based on their international actions, and failure by Greenpeace USA and the Greenpeace Foundation to condemn those actions, one could also assume that their members are a credible threat to the safety of all nuclear plant workers. Let’s get some letters to our representatives and to the IRS.
So is Greenpeace actively backing this act by fifteen of its member?
I read one short quote that a Greenpeace spokeperson deined any violence and then quickly changed the subject to supposedly lax security at the plant.
“So is Greenpeace actively backing this act by fifteen of its member?”
You be the judge:

GP has diversified into many linked subgroups to diffuse liability. The International HQ and bank accounts are in Amsterdam (I think). You would have to haul the leadership into court and have them produce documents under oath. But when one has alrady committed so many lies and felonys, what is one more (purgery)? These are True Believers of the One Green Faith. Eco-Nazis.
Since the act was committed by members of Greenpeace Spain, GP USA can disclaim any responsibility.
That’s a good bit of fact-finding, atomikrabbit, it seems the organization has really covered its bases to assure responsibility can’t fall squarely on their shoulder. These are clever, albeit dirty tactics.
It doesn’t surprise me that GP does a good job covering themselves. I would be quite thrilled if they did slip up and lost their non-profit status. They would likely just simply form a new organization and rekindle their previous connections and cash sources but at least their would be a history of at least one GP group going too far. I feel terrible for the security guards. They have to deal with theses fanatics knowing full well they are just the gullible patsies of the leadership and that defending themselves with force (they are armed) would be disastrous for the plant they work for. Perhaps that’s what GP is looking for… A few martyrs to demand justice for. Pretty sick if that thought has any truth or accuracy.
Wow, you’ve got hyperbole down pat.
PETA, like GP, started off as simply a protest against specific types of animal testing that were cruel & uneccessary, only to morph into the “Don’t eat dandelions because they have feelings & scream” nutjob A$$-hats they are today. While I do support strong measures against countries that continue to hunt whale & fish species to extinction, Having an anti-nuclear agenda for a “green” movement is so unbelievably ignorant & stupid it probably makes it worthwhile to see GP erradicated. The only groups benefiting from GP’s anti-nuke shennanigans are Big Oil & Big Coal…..
Aging plants that crumble is not the way of raising positive public opinion. Green Peace was great at what they do.
Jack your one sided article is scary. Why would guards withhold fire from a cooling reactor. Like you said the protesters were never anywhere near vital parts.

[...] The splitting of an atom releases energy in the forms of both heat and light. Atomic power plants control the fission reactions so that they don’t result in the devastating explosions that are brought forth in atomic and hydrogen bombs. There is no chance of an atomic power plant exploding like a nuclear bomb, as the specialized conditions and the pure Plutonium used to unleash an atomic bomb’s vicious force simply don’t exist inside a nuclear power plant. The risk of a “meltdown” is very low.
