Rod Adams Defends Nuclear on Bloggingheads TV

Back on April 17, 2010, the New York Times ran a video from Bloggingheads.tv about the ‘risks’ of nuclear power on their weekly segment called Science Saturday. Many of us in the online nuclear world were not pleased with the way nuclear power was represented in this particular video. An image of an extended boom microphone. While one of the pundits, George Johnson, did represent the nuclear side of the argument, it was obvious that George wasn’t prepared to answer to some of the more potent questions about nuclear power. After watching the first video it seemed like John Horgan, on the antinuclear side had the upper hand.

Links to this video soon bounced around by email between nuclear bloggers where many of us voiced our concern that nuclear was not properly represented. Rod Adams, founder of Adams Atomic Engines and author of Atomic Insights took it upon himself to contact Bloggingheads and clarify some aspects of the post.

Soon after, Rod was invited to appear on the May 1, 2010 edition of Science Saturday with John Horton in a similar diavlog. Given Rod’s decades of experience in the nuclear navy and his participation in the nuclear debate over the years, he was more than qualified to speak about the benefits of nuclear energy.

Thanks to Rod for taking the initiative to contact Bloggingheads. I would also like to thank Bloggingheads, in particular John Horgan for the willingness to allow open debate and give voice to the opposition. This was an excellent forum for good information and most antinukes are not so gracious.
